An Independent Review of Modernising Medical Careers led by Professor Sir John Tooke, DM, FRCP, FMedSci
Once you have registered you will be taken to a page showing seven different sub-topics which cover the scope of the Inquiry. There is a series of questions about MMC in General, about the Foundation Years, about Selection into Specialty Training, about Run Through, about Clinical Academic Careers, about Success Factors and about Workforce Implications. You may answer any or all of the questions and may save your answers before finally submitting them. To answer you simply click the button you feel most closely complies with your views. Some of the questions have Yes No answers, others are on a scale of 1 to 5 where 1 in all cases means you Strongly Agree and 5 means you Strongly Disagree.
In addition the Panel will be requesting written evidence from key stakeholders and will be interviewing many of them. It will review the documentation provided by the Department of Health and by the MMC team and will present its analysis of how the current situation arose.
It is hoped that the draft report and recommendations will be available for consultation by the end of September. During the consultation period Sir John will travel widely throughout the UK to discuss the panel’s findings and seek further feedback. The final Report will be published by the end of the year.
The Panel needs to know what the medical profession thinks about Modernising Medical Careers and so we urge you to complete the questionnaire and to encourage all your colleagues to do likewise.
Many thanks.
We have developed an on-line questionnaire which can be accessed through this website.
Simply click on the link Call for Evidence and you will be invited to Register. Doctors will be asked to provide their GMC number and members of the public their names and addresses. We shall not be making use of these details – but do wish to prevent multiple submissions by the same person and thus distortion of the analysis.
